Morality, as a human function,
morality, as a human action in both the school and the greater social
envi-ronment, is nowadays considered compulsory because of repeated
delinquency. It is generally believed that such infringing behavior
could be better coped with during the individual’s developmental stage,
i.e. during school years. Teachers are the ones considered to be able to
play a significant role in the improvement of the youths’ moral
development. Thus, beside anything else, an aspect of the teacher’s role
in the school is also the children’s’ moral education. So, in order the
teacher to be effective in this role as well, he/ she should be properly
prepared. Such a preparation should aim at the personal improvement of
the teacher’s moral development, as well as to the provision of
knowledge concerning the ways in which the youth’s moral education is
promoted. |
